Ants

We can provide treatments for ants in your house or a barrier spray around the outside of your property. Please note that we do not spray gardens and we cannot deal with Pharaoh ants (these are 1.5-2mm long and yellow-brown in colour, occasionally with a brown abdomen).

Carpet beetles

Treatment involves your property being sprayed or dusted with a broad-spectrum residual insecticide.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches are 10-23mm long and have antennae and wings. They live in conditions that can found in most houses and commercial premises. Cockroaches are particularly common in tower blocks as their design means they can easily move around.

Spray treatment and gel baits are used to get rid of cockroaches.

Fleas

Adult fleas are about 2mm long and dark in colour. Flea eggs are usually brought into the home by cats and dogs and hatch into larvae that then pupate. If conditions are right, they will hatch into adults – this takes about two weeks in mild weather.

Treatment involves your property being sprayed or dusted with a broad-spectrum residual insecticide.

Flies

House flies and blue bottles (or blow flies) are the two main types of fly that cause problems to householders. House fly eggs can hatch into maggots within eight hours to three days. Blue bottle eggs take 18-48 hours.

Treatment consists of a 24 hour knock down spray, with a residual insecticide if there are maggots.

Larder beetles

Adult larder beetles are 7-9mm long, oval-shaped and have a distinct pale band with three black spots across the back. They feed on food scraps and are often found in larders, attics or under-floor spaces where they may be feeding on dead rodents or birds.

Spray treatment is available where infestations are extensive.

Mice

Mice often build nests inside houses, in places such as roof spaces, under floors, in wall cavities and wherever there is access to a good source of food, especially during the winter. Mice can squeeze through cracks as small as 5mm but mouseholes are normally 20-30mm in diameter.

Treatment involves laying poison baits which will be monitored approximately every seven days.

Rats

Rats will live anywhere that provides food, water and shelter. In homes, they may live in roof spaces, wall cavities or under floorboards. In gardens, they will burrow into grassy banks or under sheds. They are often found living in sewer systems.

Treatment involves laying poison baits which will be monitored approximately every seven days.

Wasps

It is very difficult to prevent wasps starting a nest in your house as they can gain access through very small gaps. You can help prevent attracting wasps in the summer by keeping fruit, sweet foods and drinks in the fridge or sealed containers. Wasps do not return to a nest once it has been abandoned in the autumn/winter, but may build a new nest in the same area the next year.

Spray treatment is available.
