The One Leisure Active Lifestyles team works closely with schools across the district and the Huntingdonshire School Sports Partnership to help promote sport.
How we can help
We can provide various levels of support to cater for your school’s needs and to benefit the pupils’ experiences and learning. Some of the opportunities we offer include:
We can organise both traditional sports days with running, jumping and throwing events or alternative sports days with sporting challenges such as hockey dribbles, golf putting, tennis shots etc. All results are entered into a scoring system so there is a winning team at the end of the event. These can be full day events, half days or just a couple of hours.
We can provide sports tasters lasting approximately 45 minutes per session to give children the chance to try out different sports. The children rotate around a set number of activities to give them all a try. We offer a wide variety of sports, including cricket, volleyball, tennis, handball, tri-golf, boccia, athletics and dodgeball. We have experience and skills in the majority of sports that a school may choose. These can be either full or half day events.
Multi-sports and health promotion days
These events have the same structure as above but also include elements of health promotion and the importance of physical activity. This is demonstrated through healthy lifestyles games and fun interactive talks. These can be full or half day events.
Health promotion talks
Members of the team can come into the classroom and provide information about the importance of physical activity as a lifestyle choice. The talks are generally 30 – 60 minutes per class.
