Our One Leisure Active Lifestyles team is offering free support to parish councils organising village events and festivals in Huntingdonshire in 2016. The support is being provided as part of the DASH (Delivering Activity and Sport in Huntingdonshire) Phase II Project, which is funded by Sport England.

The project allows parish councils in the district to market their event to the public, with the DASH team providing FREE sports activities throughout the event.

The DASH team attended a number of events during summer 2015, including:

  • Abbotsley Village Feast Week
  • Buckden Village Festival
  • Godmanchester Recreation Day
  • Houghton and Wyton Music Festival
  • Huntingdon Riverside Gala
  • Hunts 10km
  • Needingworth Music Festival
  • Paxfest
  • RAF Wyton
  • Ramsey Family Fun Day
  • Sawtry Carnival
  • St Ives Music Festival
  • St Ives Picnic in the Park and
  • Warboys It’s a Knockout.

Cllr Robin Howe, whose executive responsibilities include the One Leisure Active Lifestyles team, said: "During the third and final year of the DASH Phase II Project, the DASH team continues to get more people participating in regular sporting activities. I would urge parish councils to get in touch and take advantage of the help available whilst it is still around."

The DASH project’s main aim is to get more people playing more sport. Parish councils in the district are pivotal in achieving this and therefore any support and help that can be offered to them is vital.
