Free support to sports clubs across the district is being offered through Huntingdonshire District Council’s Adult Sports Courses and FREE Tasters programme. The Sport and Active Lifestyles team, which is responsible for the scheme, is offering support to any club willing to provide taster sessions and/or short courses within Huntingdonshire.

The Sport England-funded project enables sports clubs to market themselves to the public, allowing participants to come along to a club night to try the sport. Ideally, sessions should range from one to two hours in duration and give participants an introduction into the activity, with all equipment provided.

As well as marketing provisions, the project can support clubs with coaching costs and facility hire, which enables them to open their doors for longer and give people the chance to give the activity a go.

The next Adult Sports Courses and FREE Tasters brochure will run from April 2016 until the end of October 2016.

Cllr Robin Howe, whose executive responsibilities include the Sport and Active Lifestyles team, said: "As we are going into the third and final year of the DASH Phase II Project, the DASH team continues to get more people participating in regular sporting activities. I would urge all clubs to get in touch and take advantage of the help available whilst it is still around."

The DASH project’s main aims are to get more people playing more sport. Sports clubs in the district are pivotal in achieving this and therefore any support and help that can be offered to them is vital.
