The pre-application advice service gives you the opportunity to ask for advice and find out if your proposals are likely to be granted planning permission.
What type of advice is available?
Current staffing levels mean that we can’t give site specific pre-application advice for household extensions. We have, however, produced General Pre-Application Advice for Household Extensions and Alterations.
We offer, on a discretionary basis, pre-application advice to owners of listed buildings - this consists of an on-site meeting followed by written advice. There is a charge for this service.
For other types of development, we offer the following pre-application advice:
written advice only – available for all enquiries (except household extensions)
meeting followed by written advice – due to current staffing levels, meetings are at the discretion of the planning officer and, unfortunately, may be declined
meeting only - for major developments only which are defined for DCLG PS2 return purposes and include developments of ten or more dwellings and developments where the floor space to be built is 1000m2 or more.
