We received government funding for the Restart Grant on 6 April 2021 and have contacted over 900 businesses that have previously received grants. We have completed third party fraud checks without the need for new applications and are currently making payments to those businesses that are still eligible. So far, we have paid out over £6 million and are still making payments.

If you previously received a Local Restrictions Support Grant and fulfil the eligibility criteria you do not need to do anything.

For businesses that are now trading who have not previously applied for grant support and fulfil the eligibility criteria, the application form is available below under 'How do I apply?'

Please note that the closing date for this grant is 30 June 2021.

What is the Restart Grant?

Many of our local businesses will have been closed for some time and will therefore need financial support to return to normal trading. As such, the government has introduced a Restart Grant to be administered by local authorities in England. This grant is only accessible to organisations from the following 6 sectors:

  • non-essential retail
  • hospitality
  • leisure
  • accommodation
  • gym and sports
  • personal care.

The Restart Grant is a one-off grant which has been developed to cover business rate paying businesses that fall into one of two strands.

Strand one:

Strand one of the Restart Grant will support non-essential retail businesses with a one-off grant per hereditament (business premises) where the business was trading on 1 April 2021.

The following thresholds apply for these businesses:
