Coronavirus infection rates are rapidly increasing across Huntingdonshire and following the latest announcement from the government, we will be moved from Tier 2 into stricter Tier restrictions 4 from 12:01am on Saturday 26 December.

This means we must stay at home where possible and not mix with other households (not including support bubbles) and all non-essential shops, personal care, indoor gyms and hospitality venues must close.

I understand how distressing this news is for people. Seeing family and friends over the festive period is what many people looked forward to at the end of this unprecedented year, but those plans now must change to curb the rate of transmission.

Our district-wide action plan for managing the rate of transmission is in full force, but our work alone is not enough. Every one of us must continue to play our part and take personal responsibility in keeping ourselves and each other safe by following the rules.

The council has services in place for residents and businesses who need support over the Christmas period. Our website and social media channels are regularly updated with the latest information and advice and our customer service telephone number (01480 388388) remains available to call in business hours.

I continue to be humbled and inspired by our communities who have worked throughout this pandemic, supporting others in need. I wish everyone a safe and peaceful end to 2020 and look forward to a brighter new year for us all.

Cllr Ryan Fuller

Executive Leader of Huntingdonshire District Council
