Huntingdonshire residents and visitors are set to benefit from a new series of fun, festive activities and events across the district this November and December, thanks to the UK Government Welcome Back Fund, in association with the European Regional Development Fund.

Working with community partners across the four market towns of Huntingdon, St Ives, St Neots and Ramsey, we are pleased to confirm a first look at the large range of festive themed experiences on the calendar for those who live in or visit the area in the run up to Christmas.

Feeling festive with lovely lights

With sponsorship through the Welcome Back Fund, the town of St Ives is ready to light up this year, with a dedicated St Ives Christmas lights switch on event and associated market on 19, 20 and 21 November.

Magical markets and more

All four of our Huntingdonshire towns are set to present brand new Christmas market offerings this year, with support from the Welcome Back Fund. In Huntingdon, Christmas comes early in the town on Saturday 11 and Saturday 18 December with dedicated fun, festive, family activities within the heart of the town centre. The perfect backdrop to local Christmas shopping, with the whole town illuminated with glowing lights.

St Neots market square is also set to get festive with brand new Christmas weekends on Saturday 11 and Saturday 18 December. The centre of town will experience nothing short of a Christmas takeover with its festive marquee covering the whole market square. A location well positioned for rest bites and rewards from the vast choice of places to eat and drink in the town.

The festivities will continue in Ramsey with brand new Advent Markets on each of the three Saturdays in the run up to Christmas this year – on 4, 11 and 18 December.

Continuing its festive theme, St Ives will see brand new Christmas markets on Saturday 4, 11 and 18 December. Visitors are offered a chance to wander the beautiful streets of the town and support the diverse independent businesses on offer, with on street entertainers and pop-up stalls providing fun for all the family.

Speaking of the upcoming festive events across Huntingdonshire, Executive Leader of the Council, Cllr Ryan Fuller, said: "We are delighted to be supporting an exciting programme of events this festive season, working closely with our local partners.

After such a challenging time for the UK’s high streets, we look forward to welcoming residents and visitors safely to our towns this Christmas and providing some much-needed support to our local, independent businesses.

As the festive season begins, we continue to work closely with our partners to ensure that appropriate public safety measures are in place and urge everyone to follow government COVID-19 guidance."

Further details on these Welcome Back Fund funded events, and other activities taking place in Huntingdonshire, can be found on the new events page.

HDC’s series of festive events is also being showcased as part of 'What Will You Find In Huntingdonshire?' – the HDC led visitor economy campaign designed to encourage residents and visitors to discover new places, spaces and activities across the district, with reassurance they can do so safely. The campaign is also funded by the UK Government Welcome Back Fund, and activity runs across HDC’s digital channels and in a partnership with Star Radio.
