CityFibre, the UK's largest independent Full Fibre platform, has announced plans to extend its network to the village of Yaxley.

Services are already live for almost all residents in nearby Peterborough and thousands more homes in the village of Yaxley will soon be able to access faster and more reliable Full Fibre-enabled internet services from a growing choice of internet services providers, including launch partner Vodafone, TalkTalk, Zen, IDNet and Giganet.

CityFibre is investing a further £2m into the network in Yaxley, which has already brought the best available network technology to over 67,000 homes in neighbouring Peterborough, about 85% of the city's residential properties, as well as most businesses, key public sector and community sites.

Last month CityFibre announced it had completed the primary-build of its Full Fibre network in Peterborough. According to a report from the consultancy Hatch, the city stands to experience significant economic, social and environmental benefits from its new digital infrastructure platform, including over £293m in productivity and innovation gains and £65m from a widened workforce over a 15-year period.

Granemore Group is CityFibre’s network construction build partner delivering the rollout in Yaxley. The team will work closely with CityFibre, Cambridgeshire County Council and Huntingdonshire District Council to manage any disruption and use modern build techniques to ensure a fast and efficient roll out.

Rebecca Stephens, CityFibre’s Regional Partnership Director, said: "Having completed the primary-build of our Full Fibre network in Peterborough, we're delighted to see so many residents and businesses already enjoying reliable, lightning-speed internet services. Now, even more people across the area will gain access to the best available digital connectivity through our new rollout in Yaxley.

"Full Fibre technology is vital for the UK’s long-term economic growth as it will help boost productivity and innovation. We're thrilled to be able to bring our best-in-class network to Yaxley, which will future-proof the area's digital infrastructure for generations to come."

Full Fibre networks, unlike many of the copper-based 'fibre broadband' services available today, use 100% fibre optic cables to carry data at light speed all the way from the home to the point of connection. This gives users speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps for upload and download, near limitless bandwidth and connectivity users can depend on.

A Full Fibre connection also goes far beyond simply enabling access to the latest entertainment at lightning speed. As an essential digital utility, Full Fibre boosts households and businesses alike, with experts saying it will drive a range of economic benefits, such as making us more productive and innovative.

Shailesh Vara MP for North West Cambridgeshire said: "I am very pleased to hear that CityFibre will be starting their build in Yaxley, which is in my constituency. The roll out will play an important part in bringing communities together through ultra-fast digital technology.

"CityFibre is committed to unlocking the full potential of a fibre optic network. The next step in their programme will bring faster broadband connecting businesses, education establishments and healthcare providers in Yaxley, a service already provided to residents in Peterborough."

Cllr Sarah Conboy, Leader of Huntingdonshire District Council, added: "We welcome this significant investment by CityFibre in Yaxley. Digital is transforming the way we live so this £2million investment in full fibre will deliver a network in Yaxley that will benefit residents, businesses and services alike."
