What is ESCAPE Pain?
ESCAPE Pain stands for Enabling Self-management and Coping with Arthritic Pain through Exercise. ESCAPE Pain is a rehabilitation programme that helps people with osteoarthritis (OA) and/or chronic joint pain self-manage their condition.
The programme aims to increase physical function and improve quality of life and is targeted at those suffering from knee or hip osteoarthritis.
The programme runs over five weeks, with participants attending for one hour, twice a week. Each session contains around a 20 minute discussion focused on helping to support self-management followed by around 45 minutes of exercise.
How does it work?
ESCAPE Pain is open to both self-referrals and referrals from health professionals. Health professionals can refer individuals to the programme which is held at our One Leisure centres.
