Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) has launched the Community Health and Wealth Building Delivery Fund, following the adoption of its new strategy aimed at improving the quality of life for residents across the district.
The Community Health and Wealth Building Strategy is the council’s long-term commitment to tackling the root causes of poor health and economic inequality. It focuses on creating the conditions for people to thrive, through better physical and mental wellbeing, stronger local economies, and more connected communities.
To help bring this strategy to life, the council has introduced a £50,000 Pilot Fund, running from 1 to 31 August 2025. This pilot marks the first phase of a wider £750,000 Delivery Fund and will test new, community-led approaches. The insights gathered will help shape how the full fund is rolled out in the future.
Voluntary and community sector organisations based in Huntingdonshire are invited to submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for projects that address one or more of the strategy’s key themes:
-
Improving physical and mental health
-
Supporting economic resilience through employment and skills
-
Fostering social connection and a sense of community.
Executive Councillor for Communities, Health and Leisure, Cllr Sally Howell, said: “This strategy represents a real shift toward local empowerment, prevention, and sustainable community-led solutions. We know that our communities have the knowledge and drive to make a difference, and we’re committed to backing that with genuine investment and support.”
To be eligible, projects must be delivered in Huntingdonshire and benefit residents. Expressions of Interest must be submitted during August, and if shortlisted, applicants will be invited to submit a full application by 30 September 2025. Funding decisions will be made by a Grants Panel in October.
Projects should show clear outcomes with a focus on prevention and demonstrate match funding or in-kind support. Successful applicants will also be invited to take part in an online Learning Area to share knowledge and help replicate successful ideas across the district.
