Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) will host its second annual apprenticeship event, “Unlocking Potential Together - Building Futures Through Apprenticeships,” on 12 February 2026, bringing together local businesses, training providers and education leaders to support SMEs in starting or expanding apprenticeship programmes.

Running from 1.30pm to 5.30pm, the event is designed to break down common barriers to apprenticeships and provide practical guidance tailored specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The afternoon will feature a keynote address from Laraine Moody of Eastern Education Group, alongside employer insights from MM Flowers, Constructed Pathways and Arcade UK. Two interactive panel discussions will focus on myth-busting and how SMEs can successfully embrace apprenticeships.

Local training providers, including Apprentice Ambassador Network, Reed and Steadfast Training will be available throughout the event to offer one-to-one guidance and discuss training opportunities. Attendees will also have the chance to network informally with peers and sector experts.

Executive Leader, Chair of the Cabinet and Executive Councillor for Place, Cllr Sarah Conboy, said:

“Apprenticeships are not only a fantastic way for young people to begin their careers, but also an increasingly important route for adults looking to retrain or make a change in career. We are delighted to see the growing number of apprenticeship opportunities available across Huntingdonshire, and this event is about connecting our residents and businesses with the support they need to take advantage of those opportunities.”
