Grants

Over the last two years, the Community Chest has welcomed applications that focused on helping residents during and recovering from the pandemic. This resulted in the delivery of projects and initiatives developed by the community for the community.

This year we welcome applications from community groups and organisations who would like to help us achieve the following priorities that have been set out within the Corporate Plan for 2023–28:

• Improving the quality of life and well-being for everyone

• Keeping people out of crisis

• Helping people in crisis

• Lowering carbon emissions

Applications must be for projects that are based in Huntingdonshire, and where the significant majority of beneficiaries are Huntingdonshire residents.

The Net Zero Villages Grant Scheme is a fund provided by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) aimed at helping rural communities reduce their carbon footprint. A total of £257,376.60 is available for distribution as grants. This funding will be 'capital' funding, meaning it cannot be used to generate revenue for an organisation.

Grants start at £5,000 and will go up to £50,000 per project.

There are 3 categories of projects:

1. Tackling energy use and/or supporting energy efficiency or generation retrofit to community buildings

2. Enabling access to public transport or access to local services through low carbon transport

3. Nature-based solutions to tackle overheating of community buildings.

The projects must be able to demonstrate and measure the following impacts as relevant to their project:

• Reduce carbon emissions

• Reduce energy consumption

• Reduce running costs of community facilities

• Reducing the overheating of a building

• Demonstrating that a project can be replicated

• Ensure that the community are engaged in changes of behaviour towards tackling climate change.

Applicants must be for projects geographically located in Huntingdonshire.

• Hunts Forum for the provision of infrastructure and support for the voluntary sector

• Citizens Advice Rural Cambs for the provision of information and advice to Huntingdonshire communities.

The Huntingdonshire Futures grant scheme has now closed. It ran from 15 May - 15 September 2024.

We will be sharing details of how the grant has been used, please check back soon.

Thank you for your interest in the scheme. The last date for submissions was 1 September 2024 and the scheme has now closed for new applications.

Applicants who have had applications approved must ensure that their projects are completed by March 2025.

The Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) is an addendum to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It aims to support activities that specifically address the particular challenges rural areas face.

Huntingdonshire District Council was allocated a total of £957,788, of which £350,000 has been allocated to support the growth of rural businesses.
