Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is inviting residents, businesses and stakeholders to have their say on the Pre-Submission Local Plan to 2046 and accompanying Habitats Regulations Assessment and Sustainability Appraisal which will be open for six weeks from 16 September 2026.
On 9 September 2026, Council considered and approved the proposed plan, meaning that the statutorily required 6-week consultation can be carried out.
Huntingdonshire District Council is launching the final opportunity for representations to be made on Huntingdonshire’s Pre-Submission Local Plan to 2046 before the plan is submitted to the Planning Inspectorate by 31 December 2026. Unlike earlier stages of engagement, it specifically asks whether the proposed plan is legally compliant and meets the tests of 'soundness'. Comments received will be registered and submitted to the Planning Inspectorate and will help inform the Inspector's examination of the Local Plan.
The Local Plan to 2046 sets out the council's vision and strategy for future development in Huntingdonshire, including proposals for housing, employment, infrastructure, town centres and community facilities. The plan also helps to protect and enhance the natural, historic environment, ensuring that growth is planned in a way that supports sustainable communities. Once adopted, it will be used to guide decisions on planning applications and investment across the district.
