The Market Towns Team has secured funding from the Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) to invest in Huntingdon town centre and we are working alongside Huntingdon BID and the Town Council to deliver benefits for the town.
A small number of projects have been identified which will build on the Town Vision to promote heritage, increase tourism, revitalise the town centre and increase footfall.
Huntingdon Visitor Centre
Funding was provided to support a project managed by Huntingdon BID to establish a Visitor Centre in the town centre. The centre is housed in the Commemoration Hall and was recently opened by the CPCA Mayor. The space, conveniently located alongside the Arts Cafe, will provide local visitor information and signposting, and will include a small retail offering.
Shop Front Grant Scheme
The Shop Front Grant Scheme launched in July 2023 giving local businesses the opportunity to apply for funding to make improvements to their shop fronts. The Team is working with Huntingdon BID to deliver the scheme. Several applications have been approved and individual projects are progressing.
Funding is still available and businesses are being encouraged to submit applications!
Cromwell Museum Expansion
In line with the Town Council's vision to promote heritage, £335,000 has been secured to support the expansion of the Cromwell Museum. The museum in its current location is limited in terms of offer, and we are working with the team to improve the facilities and the scope of this important town centre feature.
